Haptix — Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about the device, how to use it, safety, shipping, and troubleshooting.
Getting Started
What is Haptix?
Haptix is a wrist-worn wellness device that uses gentle left-right rhythmic vibration (bilateral stimulation) to help you settle stress, focus, or ease into sleep. It is not a medical device.
How does it work?
Alternating tactile cues nudge your nervous system toward regulation. Many people experience calmer breathing, fewer racing thoughts, and an easier time switching states (Calm → Focus → Alert→ DeepSleep).
Is this the same as EMDR?
No. Haptix is EMDR-inspired—it uses bilateral stimulation—but EMDR therapy is a clinical treatment with a licensed therapist. Haptix is for everyday self-regulation.
What does it feel like?
Gentle alternating taps/vibration from left to right. Most users describe it as soothing, rhythmic, and easy to ignore while working or winding down.
What’s in the box?
Two Haptix devices with wrist straps, USB-C charge cable, quick-start card.
How do I turn it on and choose a mode?
How should it feel when it’s right?
Rhythmic, gentle, and easy to ignore—like “background calm.” If it steals your attention, drop intensity or try a slower mode.
Using Haptix (everyday)
Best way to start?
Try 2–5 minutes after a stress spike to down-shift. For focus, use Active Mode during work blocks. For sleep, run 10–20 minutes before bed or try DeepSleep for soft pulses every hour while you sleep.
Which wrist?
Haptix is meant to be worn on both wrists, this is called Bilateral Stimulation and is key to have it on both wrists for maximum benefits. Learn more about it in our Resources section.
Can I pair it with breathwork or meditation?
Yes. Popular combos: box breathing (4-4-4-4) or 4-7-8 while Haptix runs on a low, steady pattern.
Can kids use it?
Yes! We find that kids love using this to calm down before exams, while studying or before sports.
Sleep
How do I use Haptix to fall asleep?
Wear it snug. Choose a slow, low-intensity pattern for 10–20 minutes. Many people drift off as the rhythm fades into the background. Turn on DeepSleep mode for overnight calm
Night wakings—what then?
Turn Haptix back on at low intensity. Let it run a few minutes while you breathe slowly. Turn off then drift to sleep or turn on DeepSleep for overnight vibrations
Will it wake me up?
If you’re very sensitive, stick to lowest intensity and a slow pattern. Position the strap so the motors contact the softer side of your wrist or loosen straps.
Is it safe to sleep with on my wrist?
It’s designed for gentle use and skin safe strap and backing plate. Ensure the strap is secure and comfortable; stop use if you notice skin irritation.
Focus & work
Best settings for deep work?
Calm mode which is Low intensity, steady pattern so you should barely notice it. Try 50–90-minute blocks (Pomodoro style) with short breaks. Active mode is great to mentally challenging or taxing tasks!
Will it distract coworkers?
Nope, Haptix is tuned to be silent to others. If you feel distracted, lower intensity or try a slower rhythm.
Will Haptix help for meetings or studying?
Choose from Active mode for deep work or Calm mode for a low intensity support for flow and maintaining attention to your task.
